The COE is funded by Africa's leading and most dynamic telecommunications company, Telkom SA and the Technology and Human Resources for Industry Programme (THRIP) which supports and funds university-industry collaborations.


The Technology and Human Resources for Industry Programme (THRIP) is a partnership programme which challenges companies to match government funding for innovative research and development in South Africa.  Companies which have taken up the challenge in collaboration with the NMMU Telkom Centre of Excellence are:Interent Solutions

Internet Solutions is the the leading African Internet Protocol-based Communications Service Provider and has been at the forefront of telecommunications innovation since its inception. 



HezekiHezeki Contracting  is one of the Top Twenty SMME companies providing telecommunications services to Telkom SA. To date the company has been active in Telecommunications Network Construction (Radio Access Network Build and Transmission Construction), Satelite Backbone, Outside Plant Construction (long distance cabling projects), Fibre Cable Projects for the Telecoms and Power Utilies, the installation of GSM systems and LAN/WAN networks.
